about

Another old cassette archeological find from 1987. Done on a Portastudio with a Tele, a Poly 800 for bass, a guitar FX pedal for all the FX and some Boss drum machine. No MIDI, no Autotune, no nothing.

lyrics

How I envy you, my friend
You're off to where the good times never end
And you will know the truth in time
Too bad you'll lose the chance to change your mind

I wish that girl could make it summer
Maybe I'd be happy then
I wish that girl could make it summer
And how I wish I could be young again

Smiling, she says, "Don't you see?"
"Don't you think the best is yet to be?"
Now if she could only say
What I've done to make her feel that way

I wish that girl could make it summer
Maybe I'd be happy then
I wish that girl could make it summer
And how I wish I could be young again

Now our conversation's done
But the rest of time has just begun
Looking to the future, blind,
We're only going to see our way with time

I wish that girl could make it summer
Maybe I'd be happy then
I wish that girl could make it summer
And how I wish I could be young again

about

Bob Russell Wilmington, North Carolina

I started playing guitar in 1965 and never stopped. I've played with artists famous and not-so-famous in a variety of settings from baseball stadiums to concert halls to country bars. I taught jazz guitar at a university for twenty years, but I love and play many other styles of music. To me, Duke Ellington said it all: "If it sounds good, it IS good." ... more
